The Lore
THE STORY SO FAR ...
Celestial Oracle is a land of myth and magic, a realm of interlacing worlds in which deified creatures, also known as Celestial Oracles, act as foundations. Celestial Oracles are nature's fury manifested, ethereal Deities that know all, see all and inhabit planes of existence unreachable to mortals. However, Their will often embodies a corporeal form, in order to communicate with Their followers amidst the temporal lands they call home. The most venerated followers of a Celestial Oracle are known as Oracles, and the highest amongst them are called Speakers.
While a Celestial Oracle cannot die, Their corporeal form can be bested in combat and temporarily defeated. A Celestial Oracle's power derives from Their followers, as it is their belief that allows the God to continue on. This, truly, is the only way to destroy a Celestial Oracle – with little faith to embolden them, They will simply flicker out of existence.
In times of great unease and strife, the player arrives in Celestial Oracle to discover Hjarnar, Kraatos and Orriana, the reigning Celestial Triad, are weak and ailing. Cloistering Themselves from those who believe in Them, the player must speak with Their followers and follow a winding path of clues, history and a forgotten treachery, in order to uncover the truth of the Celestial Triad's blight. One must beware, though, as a malicious figure lingers within the shifting darkness, casting a tall shadow over the Celestial Oracles and those who worship Them...
Do you, traveller, have what it takes to ease the suffering of the Celestial Triad?
The Celestial Traid
Hjarnar, The Grovefather
Manifesting Himself as an astral Deer, Hjarnar embodies rustling forests and peaceful, swaying meadows. His primary element is earth, but many of His followers also attribute the winds to Him.
By far the kindest of the Celestial Triad, and the most approachable. Hjarnar is the eldest of the Celestial Triad, often speaking on behalf of all three Celestial Oracles, as He is the most practical and grounded. An affable and benevolent King, Hjarnar can often be seen walking amidst His followers, even those that are not Oracles, and resting in the calm breeze of the meadows He created.
HJARNAR
Kraatos, The Magma Maker
Manifesting Themself as a mighty Dragon, Kraatos embodies roiling magma and rumbling volcanoes. Their primary element is fire, but many of Their followers also attribute rock and stone to Them.
With a temper so cantankerous They put even the volcanoes They preside over to shame, Kraatos is truly the most volatile of the Celestial Triad, but also the most giving. An artificer of death, but also of life, Kraatos is a skilled artisan of infernal weapons, as well as Their own followers, crafting them in Their own image. For this reason, many of Their followers are Draconic, Reptilian or Dinosaurian in nature.
KRAATOS
Orriana, The Mistmother
Manifesting Herself as an arcane Goat, Orriana embodies glacial tundras and jagged mountainous peaks. Her primary element is ice, but many of Her followers also attribute water to Her.
The most regal of the Celestial Triad, and the youngest, Orriana distances Herself from even those closest to Her, cloaking Herself in a shroud of cold mystery. Often called the "Veiled Sovereign", Orriana is impartial towards both Oracles and non-Oracles, and holds little remorse for those who cannot withstand Her winterim chill. Even Her own Speaker, Serys, struggles to communicate with Her.
ORRIANA
ALNO
Alno, The Would-be Wolf King
The voice and appointed Speaker of Hjarnar, the Grovefather, is Alno, a spectral Wolf with an affinity for Archaeology and a superbly snarky attitude. A rambunctious rebel that once attempted to overthrow Hjarnar, Alno is charitable, often passing ancient artifacts to others in hopes they might provide protection against the rising tides of evil.
ORACLE
Oracle, The Skullforged Fury
The voice and appointed Speaker of Kraatos, the Magma Maker, is Oracle, a monochrome Dragon with a skittish nature and a love of spellcasting. Born without the ability to fly, Oracle was shunned by other Dragons, but stood their ground and lived life to the fullest. Kraatos, impressed by their courage, took them under Their ethereal wing.
